BALTIMORE, March 31 (UPI) -- Baltimore police said they were awaiting autopsy reports Monday to determine exactly how a Montgomery County man might have killed his three young children.

The bodies of the three were found in a 10th floor room at the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor after a man called hotel security saying he had killed his children and was considering harming himself, The Baltimore Sun reported Monday.

The father, Mark Castillo, 41, was taken to University of Maryland Medical Center with what were believed to be minor, self-inflicted cuts, authorities said.

Police spokesman Sterling Clifford told the Sun it didn't appear the two boys and one girl, all under the age of 7, had been shot or stabbed.

"There is some evidence that something happened in the bathroom," said Clifford.

Online court records indicated Castillo and his wife, Amy, have been involved in a long-running custody battle in Montgomery County.
