LOS ANGELES, March 30 (UPI) -- Authorities in California were investigating separate shootings that left one freeway driver dead and another wounded.
The fatal shooting was discovered about 8:15 a.m. Sunday when California Highway Patrol officers were called to the Ventura Freeway for what they thought was a traffic accident in which a car had flipped several times. However, they discovered the driver had been shot in the head, the Los Angles Times reported.
The critically wounded unidentified man, who was about 25-30 years old, died later at a hospital, police said.
The other highway shooting occurred in Long Beach Saturday night, the Times reported. Long Beach police said a man was driving on the 710 Freeway when he was wounded in the arm and leg by someone in another car. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Investigators said they had not determined if the shooting was an incident of road rage but did not suspect it was gang-related, the Times reported.
