British Airways sorts through 15,000 bags

LONDON, March 30 (UPI) -- British Airways Sunday canceled 37 more flights from Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 as workers toiled to match15,000 pieces of lost luggage to travelers.

Terminal 5 has experienced major delays, cancellations and baggage handling problems since its Thursday grand opening.

Despite the problems, BA is "still planning to operate 85 percent of flights," an airlines spokeswoman told Sky News Sunday.

Additional staff was brought in to help organize the mounds of bags that have piled up in the past four days, she said.

The spokeswoman said BA aims to add flights throughout the coming week as problems drop off. She blamed the luggage handling chaos on a "complex and sophisticated" handling process, Sky News said.
