LONDON, March 29 (UPI) -- British Airways has had serious flight hang-ups and cancellations at London Heathrow Airport for the third day in a row because of baggage complications.
Sixty-seven of the 330 flights leaving Heathrow's new Terminal 5, which opened Thursday, were canceled Saturday because of problems with baggage, the BBC reported. Thirty-seven more flights have been scrapped for Sunday.
"The whole experience has been (a) meltdown," traveler Elizabeth Drury said.
In light of the delays, British Airways reportedly has been criticized for offering insufficient reimbursement for affected passengers who pay for hotel rooms.
Passengers said they received notification Thursday they could be compensated as much as about $200 for two individuals staying in a hotel room. Some people said with the increased number of delayed flights this week, some hotels had priced double rooms as high as $500.
