Survey: Harvard is top choice of students

PRINCETON, N.J., March 27 (UPI) -- A U.S. survey found Harvard University is the No. 1 school choice for students, while Princeton University is the parents' top selection.

The annual "College Hopes & Worries Survey" survey, conducted by The Princeton Review, a learning services company in New York, comes during a time many call "the other March Madness" when students anxiously await responses to their college and financial aid applications, The Princeton Review said Thursday.

"The college application process isn't the worst part. Waiting to hear back is!" a student said.

The top three schools students and parents chose were Harvard, Stanford and Princeton, with New York University, Yale and Cornell following closely behind.

Sixty-one percent of students and parents of the 10,388 respondents surveyed, said they had high stress levels related to college applications and 84 percent said financial assistance was "very necessary." Seventy-one percent predict a bachelor's degree would cost more than $75,000.
