LINDSAY, Calif., March 26 (UPI) -- A conservative legal group is backing a California woman who was fired as a library aide after reporting a man viewing photos of nude boys on the Internet.
Brenda Biesterfeld, 46, was just two weeks short of completing her six-month probationary period when the public library in the Central Valley farm town of Lindsay fired her, The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
Biesterfeld informed police about a patron viewing photos of young boys on a library computer even though her supervisor had told her not to do so.
Attorneys connected with a conservative legal group based at Jerry Falwell's Liberty University have taken up Biesterfeld's case and are threatening to sue the county, the Times said.
Biesterfeld's firing has also prompted the city council in the town of 11,000 to consider breaking off from the county library system.
"As a community, we are extremely upset," says councilwoman Suzi Picaso. "We want to make sure that people who move here know we have policies in place to keep our children safe."
