Graveyard search for missing girl?

COATBRIDGE, Scotland, March 25 (UPI) -- A family is seeking permission to search a Scottish graveyard for the body of an 11-year-old girl who vanished more than half a century ago.

Janet Hart and Marjorie Muir believe that their sister's body was concealed in the grave of someone buried three weeks after her disappearance, The Scotsman reports.

Moira Anderson was last seen in 1957 when she went out to buy butter for her grandmother at a shop in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire. Her family believes that she was abducted by a bus driver, a convicted pedophile who has since died, and that he molested her and allowed her to freeze to death.

A private investigator believes that an examination of the graveyard with ground-penetrating radar shows signs that Moira's body is there.

"It's not too much to ask that my little sister, Moira, have her final resting place not in an unmarked grave, or in someone else's grave, but with her loving parents who grieved for their lost daughter daily, until they too were laid to rest," Hart said in an interview from her home in Australia.
