ALGIERS, Algeria, March 24 (UPI) -- A top Communist official from China made remarks encouraging bilateral relations with Algeria in a diplomatic visit to the north African country.

Li Changchun with the Communist Part of China met with the Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem to discuss Chinese investment in Algeria to increase bilateral trade and economic relations, China's official Xinhua news agency said Monday.

Belkhadem reiterated Algeria's support for the one-China policy and said he felt China would address international concerns to have a successful Summer Olympic Games in August.

Li acknowledged Algeria's support for the one-China policy and suggested the two countries could engage in a strategic relationship that Li said would promote world peace.
