MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, March 22 (UPI) -- Police in Jamaica suspect a 61-year-old British woman on vacation was killed and her body dumped in a nearby pit by an unknown assailant.
Police said Barbara Scott Jones's body was found inside a pit near the home where she was staying on the northwest side of the tropical island and signs indicated she died of a skull fracture, the Daily Mail said Saturday.
Jones was last seen alive March 14 when she left the home in St. James parish to travel to Montego Bay, police said.
Police Sgt. Michael Francis said a 30-year-old male suspect was being sought in the woman's death.
The British newspaper said Jones' death marks the first time a tourist was killed in Jamaica this year. Last year, more than 1,400 people were killed in the tropical locale.
