Turkey may send troops to Afghanistan

ANKARA, Turkey, March 20 (UPI) -- Turkish leader Ali Babacan says he is considering sending combat troops to Afghanistan.

He said a decision is likely within a few days.

Babacan and his Afghan counterpart, Rangin Spanta, told an Ankara news conference both wanted to expand "relations in all fields" and discussed what Turkey could do in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Spanta said Afghanistan wants more Turkish schools and Babacan said a new Turkish college is planned for Afghanisan, the New Anatolian reported.
