MONTREAL, March 17 (UPI) -- Dozens of protesters in Montreal clashed with police during a march against police brutality.

The (Montreal) Gazette reported that 47 people were arrested in the demonstration that left about 10 fast food restaurant windows broken and one car firebombed.

The three-hour march, in which protesters held signs fashioned like tombstones with the names of 42 people they said have been killed by local police in the past 21 years, also included groups protesting alleged racial profiling.

Stefan Christoff, a member of the Collective Opposed to Police Brutality, the group that organized the march, said "many of these people have been victims of police violence."

Those arrested Saturday face such charges as mischief, assaulting a police officer and theft.
