LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan, March 17 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber smashed his vehicle into a military convoy in Afghanistan Monday killing four soldiers and wounding several others, Afghan officials said.

The provincial police chief in Helmand province in southern Afghanistan said the attack was similar to others carried out by the Taliban, who hold control over several districts in the province, al-Alam satellite television reported.

Three Afghans died and three other NATO soldiers suffered injuries during the attack. Two of the soldiers were Danes and the other was from the Czech Republic, officials from both countries said. The fourth soldier was from the International Security Assistance Force.

Attacks against NATO-led forces in Helmand are up recently, CNN said. Helmand is in Afghanistan's poppy region and is the sight of frequent clashes between international forces and the Taliban.
