$20,000 Mantle rookie card stolen

ORANGE PARK, Fla., March 17 (UPI) -- A Florida sports store owner says he was robbed of $100,000 in merchandise, including a Mickey Mantle rookie card valued at about $20,000.

Dan Williams, owner of Dan's Sports Cards in Orange Park, Fla., said whoever broke into his store took three display cases of goods, including a complete collection of 1952 Topps cards with the prized 1952 Mantle rookie, the (Jacksonville) Florida Times-Union reported Monday.

"It only took them six minutes, the cops were saying. That definitely makes it sound easy and (make us) hesitant to what we want to put out for sale," store manager J.J. McCormick told WJXT-TV in Jacksonville.

The robbery occurred early Monday when someone cut off the shop's power and hurled a chunk of concrete through the glass entryway, Williams said.
