NEW YORK, March 16 (UPI) -- Payment records of one of New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's campaign consultants are being probed after interest was shown in suspicious hotel expenditures.
Officials requested specific records of the reimbursement of thousands of dollars to Kristian B. Stiles, who is in charge of fundraising and has been employed as a campaign consultant for Spitzer since 2003, The New York Times reported.
Stiles reportedly received a monthly salary of about $6,460 while she worked as a consultant for Spitzer's 2010 council, and she was reimbursed for almost $22,000 for expenses in 2007.
Officials also showed interest in hotel expenditures from Spitzer's trips to West Palm Beach, Fla., Dallas and Washington, where it is believed he may have set up rendezvous with prostitutes, the Times reported.
Spitzer is to resign as governor Monday, a week following the New York Time's publication of a piece that said he had allegedly spent money on expensive prostitutes.
