Jesse James Campbell was being held without bail Friday in the Clearfield County Jail, the Altoona (Pa.) Mirror reported. His grandparents found the body of his mother, Cindy Jo Coleman, at her home in Houtzdale early Thursday morning.

Campbell allegedly killed his mother after an argument about his taking her computer, police said. Investigators say that she was battered with a 5-pound weight and choked before her throat was cut and that her son then began reading from the Bible.

After getting a phone call from his mother, Campbell allegedly told his girlfriend he was going to kill her. He then went out and when he returned he took off his clothes and took a shower.

The girlfriend allegedly dumped the clothes in the trash, the report said.

Campbell was arraigned Thursday afternoon, appearing at the hearing by video hookup from the jail.

Another woman reportedly called police to say that Campbell and his girlfriend had talked about killing his mother. Police then called Coleman's parents, who went to check on her.
