That was the assessment by Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri during heated debate between pro-government and opposition politicians, the Daily Star in Beirut reported.

The initiative called for electing Gen. Michel Sulaiman, the Lebanese armed forces commander, as president, the formation of a national unity government and the drafting of a new electoral law for the 2009 parliamentary elections.

The opposition and ruling coalition agreed on electing Sulaiman. But, lawmakers remained at odds over the new government and electoral law.
