Since Monday, previously unknown Ashley Alexandra Dupre became a household name because of the FBI moniker "Kristen," a high-priced prostitute federal investigators allegedly linked to Spitzer, who announced his resignation Wednesday.
Pictures from her apparent MySpace and Facebook profiles were posted on media Web sites, CNN reported. After The New York Times identified her, time stamps and activity on what appears to be her Facebook profile indicate Dupre cleaned up her profile and responded to critics on the Internet.
After the scrub, traffic was heavy on her Facebook profile but Thursday afternoon, the Facebook and MySpace profiles were gone, CNN said.
American University Law Professor Chris Simpson, an Internet and privacy law exert, told CNN people should have no expectation of privacy on social networking Web sites.
While Dupre may have left her profiles open hoping someone would discover her music, Simpson said the move left her susceptible to media scrutiny after the Spitzer scandal.
"Unfortunately, you can't say, 'Oh well, I didn't want that kind of publicity, I only wanted positive publicity,'" he said.
