House sues Miers, Bolten in civil court

WASHINGTON, March 10 (UPI) -- The U.S. House of Representatives Monday sued a current and a former White House aide to compel them to testify about the firings of nine U.S. attorneys.

The House's action against former White House counsel Harriet Miers and White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten is the latest in a confrontation between Congress and the White House, which has prevented the two from testifying by claiming executive privilege, The Hill reported.

The suit was filed in civil court.

"Congress ... is clearly entitled to the information that is being sought it," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

The conflict, she said, "involves the politicization of the Justice Department and law enforcement, not national security information nor communications with the president."
