TACOMA, Wash., March 10 (UPI) -- The cherubic-looking girl in U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton's "red phone" ad is 17 and says she supports Clinton's U.S. Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama.
The stock advertising footage was shot about eight years ago and the model, Casey Knowles of Tacoma, Wash., has been campaigning for Obama, the U.S. senator from Illinois battling the U.S. senator from New York to be named the Democratic presidential nominee, The News Tribune, a Tacoma newspaper, reported.
The pro-Clinton ad, which ran in Texas before last week's primary, opens with a few seconds of a girl sleeping while a voice-over asks whom voters would prefer in the White House in a crisis. Casey was filmed when the family used to work as commercial extras, mother Pam Knowles said.
"My son goes, 'That was Casey on TV,'" the mom told the News Tribune. "After we saw her, we lost all consciousness! We couldn't believe it. … We were all like, 'Oh my gosh, you're the 3 a.m. girl!'"
But the teen's political loyalties are with Obama.
"I think it would be wonderful if Barack Obama and I could get together and do a counter-ad," Knowles, who turns 18 next month, told CNN.
