LONDON, March 8 (UPI) -- Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher is "doing well" after a short hospital stay in London for an unspecified illness, her daughter said Saturday.
Thatcher's daughter, Carol, said her mother was checked out of St. Thomas's Hospital a day after she fell ill during a House of Lords dinner, the BBC reported.
"But it's good news today. She is doing well," Carol said following Friday's precautionary hospital visit.
Thatcher biographer Charles Moore echoed Carol's comments, saying the incident was simply an indicator of the former British prime minister's advancing age. Thatcher is 82.
"I've just spoken to some people close to her and I think what seems to have happened, Lady Thatcher is susceptible to heat and it sometimes gives her -- and it does sometimes with old people -- a turn," Moore said.
Unidentified friends of Thatcher told the BBC that her short term memory was affected by her prior strokes, which in turn has led to a decreased number of public appearances for the British politician.
