AUBURN, Ala., March 8 (UPI) -- Police in Auburn, Ala., have filed multiple charges against a 23-year-old man for allegedly killing Auburn University freshman Lauren Burk.

Identified as Courtney Lockhart, the suspect is accused of abducting Burk from the school's campus this week and fatally shooting, The Birmingham (Ala.) News said Saturday.

Burk was found alive but severely injured trying to flag down a passing motorist Tuesday night. She later died at a hospital.

Burk's car was later found in flames in a parking lot on the university's campus.

Police arrested Lockhart in Phenix City Friday, the newspaper said. He had already been wanted by the police in relation to several other crimes.
