SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 7 (UPI) -- The leaders of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela have decided to end their diplomatic row over Colombia's killing of a Colombian rebel leader in Ecuador.
Colombia's Alvaro Uribe, Ecuador's Rafael Correa and Venezuela's Hugo Chavez decided to end hostilities at a Latin America summit in The Dominican Republic, El Caribe newspaper reported online Friday.
Diplomatic ties between neighboring nations Ecuador and Colombia, as well as those between Colombia and Venezuela, were severed by Quito and Caracas this week after Ecuador learned that Colombian forces crossed the border to kill rebel leader Raul Reyes and 16 other members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.
Correa and Chavez sent troops to their respective borders with Colombia.
FARC has been battling Colombian forces for more than 40 years.
