Iran supplying Hezbollah, Israel says

BEIRUT, Lebanon, March 5 (UPI) -- Iran is sending missiles to Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon through Turkey, which claims no knowledge of the activity, Israeli intelligence officials charge.

Tehran denies the activity and Turkey claims no knowledge of the alleged arms shipments but Israeli officials said in a report to EU officials that Iran is shipping long-range missiles to Hezbollah hidden in civilian cargo, Haaretz said Wednesday.

The Turkish Embassy in Israel had no official comment but a Turkish source told Haaretz that Turkey has "adhered to all international decisions, with an emphasis on the arms embargo to Lebanon."

At the United Nations, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon noted in his update on the Security Council resolution governing the cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah that Israeli officials said they believe Hezbollah restocked its missile batteries in southern Lebanon.

The U.N. report also criticized Israel for violating the cease-fire agreement by conducting intelligence flights over Lebanese territory.
