EMORY, Texas, March 2 (UPI) -- A 16-year-old eastern Texas girl was among four suspects held Sunday in the shooting deaths of her mother and two brothers, police said.
The family's father also was wounded in the Saturday attack in rural Rains County, KLTV in Tyler, Texas, reported.
Penny Caffey, 37, Matthew Caffey, 13, and Tyler Caffey, 8, were shot and stabbed multiple times in their home, the TV station reported. The father, Terry Caffey, was hospitalized in fair condition with several bullet wounds.
Besides the 16-year-old daughter, whose name was not released, authorities arrested Charlie James Wilkinson, 19, Charles Allen Waid, 20, and Bobbi Gale Johnson, 18. All except Wade attend Emory High School, authorities said, and all were charged with three counts of capital murder.
The suspects allegedly set the house on fire after attacking the family but the father escaped to a neighbor's house for help, KLTV said.
Authorities said prior to the attack, the daughter had been forced to break up with her boyfriend, who was one of the suspects.
