NORMAN, Okla., Feb. 29 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma man was convicted Friday of killing a 10-year-old girl with plans to rape and eat her body.

The penalty phase of Kevin Ray Underwood's trial is set to begin Monday in Norman, Okla., The Norman Transcript reported. The trial was moved from Purcell, where he and the victim, Jamie Rose Bolin, lived, because of publicity.

Jurors took only a short time to reach a verdict after hearing two days of testimony. The evidence included a taped conversation between Underwood and two FBI agents where he admitted fantasies of cannibalism he said were inspired by viewing pornography on the Internet.

Rose Fox, Jamie's grandmother, said after the verdict that she believes Underwood is "a monster in human form." She said she now supports the death penalty for him after opposing it.

"You attack our children, our innocents, the state of Oklahoma will hunt you down like a rabid dog and put you down like a rabid dog," she said.
