YORBA LINDA, Calif., Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Almost an entire family was killed and one child was in critical condition in Yorba Linda, Calif., in what police say appeared to be a murder-suicide.
Brea police Sgt. Peter Rodriguez said authorities received a call from a 14-year-old boy at a condominium complex Saturday night. The boy told police he and his brother had just been shot by their father, KNX-AM radio reported Sunday.
Officers found the body of a woman on the doorstep and the bodies of three children -- a 5-year-old boy, and two girls ages 8 and 9 -- inside the home.
They also found the body of a man with a shotgun beneath him. The wounded 14-year-old boy who'd called in was rushed to a hospital and remained in serious condition.
Police said they believe the father may have shot everyone else and then took his own life.
