MITROVICA, Kosovo, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Protesters and police in Mitrovica clashed for a sixth day Friday over the Serbs' displeasure of Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered near the bridge that separates the Serb and the ethnic Albanian communities in multi-ethnic Mitrovica, Hotnews.ro reported. Police used tear gas to prevent Serbian demonstrators from reaching the ethnic Albanian side of the city.

Serbs in Mitrovica said they would organize daily demonstrations to call attention to a resolution calling on the United Nations to refuse Kosovo's actions, the Romanian news outlet reported.
