Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, who acts as the Holy See's foreign minister, will visit with Raul Castro this week, the Mission International Service News Agency reported.

The move makes the Vatican the first nation to send an envoy to the Caribbean island nation since Fidel Castro announced he would not seek re-election, but Vatican officials said the visit by Bertone was planned ahead of Fidel's announcement.
