COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Fighting between Sri Lankan troops and Tamil Tiger rebels has left at least 93 rebels and three government soldiers dead, a report said Thursday.

The casualties came Wednesday as government troops, aided by air attacks, reclaimed rebel-held regions in northern Sri Lanka, the Press Trust of India said. At least 15 rebels were reported wounded.

The most intense fighting took place on the outskirts of Adampan in northwestern Mannar, the defense ministry said in a statement.
