Study: More than half of pets overweight
RENO, Nev., Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Nevada authorities said they hoped a pair of thong underpants found near the body of a slain 19-year-old student may lead them to someone who knows the killer.
DNA testing confirmed the panties contain the genetic profiles of a man alleged to have abducted Brianna Denison, 19, from a Reno, Nev., house and an unknown woman, The Reno Gazette-Journal reported Wednesday.
Denison's body was found Feb. 15 in a field near an industrial park more than a month after she was kidnapped while spending the night on a friend's couch.
Reno Police Lt. Robert McDonald said the underwear may lead authorities to the killer.
"This person who owned the underwear, we really need to talk to her and find out how it came to be with Brianna," McDonald told the Gazette-Journal. "She may have some really important information in this case."
Authorities said the DNA evidence found in the industrial park links Denison's death to an attempted sexual assault of another Reno college student in November.
