GOTEBORG, Sweden, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A Swedish hospital has been told to improve its procedures after a nurse allegedly injected a patient with a needle that had been used on an AIDS patient.

The Board of Health and Welfare issued a reprimand for Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Goteborg, the Goteborgs Posten reported. The hospital has previously come under fire because a woman became HIV positive after her husband was given the wrong results on a test for the virus.

The patient who was injected with the tainted needle was in the hospital being treated for severe head injuries. He died of his injuries before he could be tested to confirm whether he had been infected.

The needle used for the injection was not marked with the AIDS patient's name or identifying number.

The board said there is a good chance that the other patient was infected by the injection and would have been HIV positive if he had survived.
