Guyana: Gunmen kill 13

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Gunmen in a small town in Guyana killed 13 people, including three police officers, it was reported Monday.

The assailants, wearing military uniforms, entered a police station Sunday in Bartica, about 80 miles from the Guyana capital of Georgetown, took weapons from authorities before opening up fire, the Guyana Chronicle reported.

The attack was blamed on local gangs.

Last month, a gangland attack left 11 people dead, including five children. Authorities in Guyana blamed that incident on the country's most wanted man, alleged gang kingpin Rondell Rawlins.
