The Boeing 737 came to rest in a deep snow bank as firefighters, paramedics and police rushed to the scene, the report said.

"My son called us from the plane and he said he was in the middle of the snow," said Jorge Rodriguez, who was awaiting his arrival.

The passengers remained on the plane for nearly two hours before shuttle buses arrived to taken them to the terminal, officials said.

Freezing rain had been falling in the area for several hours when the accident occurred, the Citizen said.
