DALLAS, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- A cache of memorabilia linked to the late U.S. President John F. Kennedy has been found in Texas, an exclusive report said Sunday.
An exclusive report by The Dallas Morning News said JFK memorabilia ranging from personal letters to a gun holster was discovered inside an old safe in the Dallas County district attorney's office.
Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins told the newspaper the items also included a transcription of an alleged conversation between Lee Harvey Oswald, Kennedy's assassin, and Jack Ruby, the man who later fatally shot Oswald.
Watkins said the transcript, which reportedly is highly suspect, details an alleged plot to kill Kennedy as part of a mafia plot to kill then-U.S. Attorney General Robert Kennedy.
"It will open up the debate again about whether there was a conspiracy," Watkins said of the historical discovery.
The Morning News said the memorabilia was found amidst a search for the gun that killed Oswald, which had been rumored to be hidden in the courthouse where the safe originated.
