Nurse allegedly had sex with killer

MOUNT ALBERT, New Zealand, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- A New Zealand nurse accused of having sex with a patient who escaped a murder conviction because of insanity has been found guilty of professional misconduct.

The Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal found that the sexual misconduct charges could not be proved. But the tribunal said the nurse engaged in misconduct by giving the patient a cell phone and taking him home with her, and by ignoring another patient's attempted escape, the New Zealand Herald reported.

The patient testified against the nurse. He said they first had sex at the nurse's home while he was on a day pass from the Mason Clinic in Mount Albert to see the movie "Troy." He said other encounters took place in public restrooms.

The nurse faces a large fine and the possible loss of her professional license.
