PHOENIX, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Phoenix authorities say a mummified corpse found in the bathtub of an abandoned rental home may have been there for several years.

The remains were discovered late last week as a crew cleaned out the small junk-filled cottage.

Police said one of the workers noticed a leg sticking out of a tub that was filled with dirt and covered with plywood and plastic, KPHO-TV, Phoenix, said Tuesday.

The report said the owners of the cottage had been receiving regular rent checks in the mail until last year.

It was not known what happened to the tenant.
