MEXICO CITY, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Southern Mexico was rattled Tuesday by an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale, El Universal reported online.

Homes and other buildings were shaken in the southern state of Chiapas near the border with Guatemala, though no one was reported to have been injured.

The tremors were reportedly felt as far away as Mexico City, about 360 miles from the epicenter of the quake.
