COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A restraining order against Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, because of her quest to offer paper ballots to voters on March 4, has been overturned.
The restraining order was issued last week by Union County Judge Richard E. Parrott against Brunner, but Franklin County Judge Eric A. Brown, a Democrat, ruled that the restraining order was improperly granted, The Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch reported Monday.
Union County commissioners oppose Brunner's plan, claiming it would cost an extra $68,000 to have paper ballots alongside the voting machines in the primary.
Brown's ruling says the commissioners and Parrott, a Republican, should have given Brunner's staff time to argue against a restraining order, instead of it being issued 30 minutes after the request was made.
Union County Prosecutor David W. Phillips said a hearing is set for Wednesday to resolve the matter.
