AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Sen. Barack Obama said Monday he has accepted an invitation to participate in a Democratic presidential debate in Austin, Texas.
The junior senator from Illinois said he would debate Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York on Feb. 21 in an event organized by the Texas Democratic Party, the Spanish-language television network Univision and CNN, The Houston Chronicle reported.
"We are pleased that Senator Obama will have the opportunity to debate in Texas, and that it will air on Univision, ensuring a wide and diverse audience," Obama's Texas state director, Adrian Saenz, said in a statement quoted by the newspaper.
It was not immediately clear whether Clinton would agree to the debate. The New York senator has said she would attend a debate being organized by the Greater Houston Partnership and MSNBC on Feb. 28.
