ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- U.S. intelligence officials say al-Qaida's Osama bin Laden and the Taliban's Mullah Omar are planning their attack strategies from within Pakistan.

Speaking with reporters in Washington, a senior U.S. intelligence official said Bin Laden and Omar both are living in Pakistan, despite denials to the contrary from Pakistani leaders, the BBC reported.

Omar, and other senior Taliban leaders, are coordinating attacks and fueling the insurgency in Afghanistan from Quetta in Pakistan's Balochistan Province, said the official, who provided no details about how western intelligence sources came by their information.

Bin Laden, meanwhile, is believed to be directing al-Qaida operations from a hideout in Pakistan's western tribal area, the BBC reported.
