CHENNAI, India, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- An Indian court Thursday sentenced a doctor accused in a cyberpornography case to life in prison, the Press Trust of India reported.
The judge in the southern city of Chennai sentenced three other accused in the case to seven years rigorous imprisonment.
The main accused, Dr. L. Prakash, an orthopedic doctor, had been charged with posting obscene pictures of women on the Internet with the help of his brother in the United States, whose status in the case wasn't known.
The judge also imposed fines on all the accused.
In giving the life sentence to Prakash, the judge said the maximum punishment under India's immoral trafficking act was called for because of the gravity of the offense, the report said.
