PARIS, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni won a lawsuit against an airline that used a photo of the couple for an advertisement.

A Paris court awarded Bruni $89,000 of the almost $737,500 she requested for Ryanair's unauthorized use of the picture, the BBC reported.

The Ryanair advertisement, which appeared before the couple's Saturday wedding, featured Bruni saying, "With Ryanair, all my family can attend my wedding."

Bruni, a former model, reportedly argued that she would normally ask for nearly $737,500 for appearing in such an ad.

"It was a humorous comment on a matter of great public interest," a Ryanair spokeswoman said.

The airline reportedly apologized to the couple for using the photo without their permission.

The court ordered Ryanair to publish the case's outcome in the newspaper which featured the ad.
