SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Mitt Romney won the Republican presidential primary in Utah as expected on Super Tuesday, but Barack Obama squeaked out a win on the Democratic side.
The Deseret Morning News said exit poll predictions show all 36 delegates going to Romney, a Mormon running in a Mormon state, in the winner-take-all GOP contest. The delegates are pledged to vote for Romney in the first round at the convention, unless Romney releases them.
But Obama and Hillary Clinton probably will split the 23 Democratic voters: 12 for Obama, 11 for Clinton.
Utah hasn't voted for a Democrat in a national presidential race since President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
