TINLEY PARK, Ill., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Sources said a sixth woman shot by a gunman at a Tinley Park, Ill., mall survived her wounds and was able to dial 911 during the attack.

The sources said a bullet grazed the woman's neck during the shooting, which killed five women, but she survived the attack and was able to provide police with a description of the gunman, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday.

Police said the attacker, described as an African-American man standing at about 5 foot 9 and weighing 260 pounds, took the five women into the store's back room before he killed them and left the premises.

"This incident appears to stem from an armed robbery attempt which was interrupted which led to the five murders," Tinley Park Police Chief Michael O'Connell said.

Eric Woolfolk, brother of victim Connie Woolfolk, said he was told by police that the attacker took about $200 and some valuables from the store.
