ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., announced Sunday he backs Senate colleague John McCain of Arizona in the race for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.

Coleman previously supported former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who last week dropped out of the race, the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press reported.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty also is one of McCain's national co-chairmen.

The Land of 10,000 Lakes will hold caucuses Tuesday to choose its presidential preferences.
