New clues surface in Holloway case

ORANJESTAD, Aruba, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Officials are studying new evidence about the disappearance of a U.S. teen who went missing while vacationing in Aruba, a report said.

Dutch crime reporter, Peter R. de Vries, has provided the new evidence for the Natalee Holloway case, Radio Netherlands reported Friday.

The new evidence was described by prosecutor Hans Mos as "impressive and convincing" and "an essential part that was lacking in the investigation."

Holloway was seen with Jordan van der Sloot, and two brothers, before she went missing in May 2005 while on a trip to Aruba intended for celebrating high school graduation with friends, the report said. The report added that de Vries secretly taped van der Sloot allegedly confessing to the crime.

Investigations stopped in 2006 when officials said there was not enough evidence to prosecute the young suspects, but has reopened since De Vries came up with the new evidence.
