TORONTO, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Canadian police said an abandoned baby found in a Toronto parking garage may have come from the United States.
"We're exploring this possibility and seeing where it takes us," Constable Wendy Drummond told CBC News Friday.
Security camera images show someone leaving the 8-month-old girl in the concrete stairwell of the outdoor parking garage, then driving away in a green sedan, the report said.
Police were unable to identify whether the person leaving the baby was male or female.
The girl, who is black with brown eyes and a light complexion, was left face down on the freezing landing on one of the coldest days of this winter so far, CBC reported. She was wearing a pink cotton sleeper, a green hat and blue socks.
She was discovered by woman walking by who thought she was a doll until she heard the baby crying, the report said.
The baby was described in healthy condition at the Hospital for Sick Children and is under the care of the Children's Aid Society, which may seek guardianship, the report said.
