Nader mulling another White House run

WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- U.S. consumer activist and political gadfly Ralph Nader said he has posted an exploratory committee Web site for another run at the White House.

Nader, widely blamed by Democrats for Al Gore's loss in the 2000 presidential election, said he will formally decide in about a month, CNN reported. Nader said his candidacy would be all but certain if he can raise $10 million and recruit lawyers to address access to state ballots.

"Which side are you on?" the site asks, and features a list of criticisms of corporate America,CNN said.

"John Edwards, the banner of Democratic Party populism, is dropping out, and Dennis Kucinich dropped out earlier, so in terms of voters who are at least interested in having major areas of injustice, deprivations, and solutions discussed in a presidential campaign, they might be interested in my exploratory effort," Nader told CNN.

In 2000, Gore won the popular vote but Republican George Bush won the Electoral College vote after the U.S. Supreme Court halted a recount in Florida. Nader, the Green Party candidate, won about 2.8 million votes nationwide.
