TEHRAN, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Iran is seeking proposals for 19 new nuclear reactors over the next two decades.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, however, said the country is prepared to build them on its own if no other countries step forward to assist, RIA Novosti said Wednesday.

Russia this week delivered low-enriched uranium to Iran's Bushehr province, where Iran's first nuclear power plant is being built by Russian contractor Atomstroyexport.

Ahmad Fayaz-Bakhsh, deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, told IRNA news agency the plant will be commissioned this fall. A reactor in the western province of Khuzestan is planned for 2017, RIA Novosti said.
