RENO, Nev., Jan. 28 (UPI) -- DNA evidence from the scene of a 19-year-old woman's abduction in Nevada matched that from an earlier kidnapping and sexual assault, police officials said.
Brianna Denison disappeared Jan. 20 from a friend's home in Reno, Nev., and police officials said DNA evidence recovered from a pillow at the home matched evidence from the Dec. 16 rape and kidnapping case of a University of Nevada, Reno, student, the Reno Gazette-Journal said Monday.
Reno police Cmdr. Ron Holladay said the possible suspect may have baby items in his vehicle as a prior victim testified seeing a baby shoe in the suspects pickup, though she said she didn't see his face.
Police told the Gazette-Journal said the DNA profile didn't match any listed in the national DNA database and cautioned University of Nevada, Reno, students and area residents to be conscious of their personal safety and surroundings.
Area residents and students reportedly are tense in the wake of several unsolved assaults and kidnappings.
